Requirements:
This course aims to develop basic understanding of structural features of Japanese language. Students will be introduced to basic phonetic, phonological, morphological, syntactic, and discourse levels of Japanese. Taught in Japanese." (Prereq: JAPN 300 or equivalent)

In this course, we focused on key features of the Japanese Language from a linguists frame of view in order to better understand its underlying nuances.

One key area that we focused on was Japanese honorific speech, known by those who've studied it as Keigo (敬語). Within Keigo there are 3 different kinds, and knowing how to use each one appropriately in a given social setting is key to communicating at a fluent level in Japanese society.

This course aims to develop basic understanding of structural features of Japanese language. Students will be introduced to basic phonetic, phonological, morphological, syntactic, and discourse levels of Japanese. Taught in Japanese.
